Who We’re Looking For:
We’re hiring a Manager, Network Engineering to support the design, deployment, and optimization of our carrier-grade network infrastructure. In this key leadership role, you’ll oversee a growing team of engineers while partnering cross-functionally to support Gateway’s annual goal of 100,000 new serviceable passings. You’ll bring strategic insight, deep technical expertise, and a collaborative mindset to elevate our network operations to the next level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of Network Engineers responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Gateway’s IP network infrastructure.
- Support strategic planning and architecture of scalable Layer 3 core routing solutions, ensuring reliability, performance, and security across the network.
- Oversee day-to-day network operations, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and KPI tracking to ensure optimal uptime and service quality.
- Guide implementation of new technologies, including dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 environments, MPLS, and PON-based access networks.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to assess connectivity needs, resolve network issues, and support service launches.
- Develop and maintain network policies, procedures, and standards to address complex and evolving technical challenges.
- Support vendor selection and management, including evaluation of hardware/software solutions aligned with business needs.
- Mentor and grow team members, fostering technical development, accountability, and high performance within the department.
- Drive documentation and knowledge-sharing, ensuring the team is equipped with resources and tools for success.
- Contribute to capital planning, budgeting, and network scaling strategies in alignment with Gateway’s growth trajectory.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering, with at least 2 years in management capacity.
- Deep expertise in Layer 3 Core Network Routing (OSPFv3, IS-IS, BGP, IBGP, RIP) and WAN protocols; MPLS and Multicast experience strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Juniper MX Series and JUNOS preferred; Cisco and other vendor experience considered.
- Hands-on experience with Calix GPON/XGS-PON, DWDM/CWDM, and optical networks is a plus.
- Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing technical teams.
- Proficient in both Unix/Linux and Windows environments.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to diagnose network traces and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Network Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license; ability to travel occasionally and lift up to 80 lbs as needed for fieldwork.
